Thoughts and Guilty pleasures....

I'm sitting here typing and looking at a rainy Fourth weekend, I know I should go to  bed...but my mind is a little to active for that right now...so I guess it is time to deliver on my promise of an intelligent LJ entry for once.

Earlier this week I got into a discussion on the nature of a supreme being with a coworker of mine.  I, personally, am an atheist, but if a supreme being actually exists I have come to picture it like this

"Picture a ten year old boy on a hot summer day.  He is sitting on the front porch of his house with a really big magnifying glass watching an ant hill.  Every so often the child hold the magnifying glass up to the sun and incinerates one of the ants straight into oblivion.

The other ants don't quite know what happened...just that their coworker is no longer there any more.  They have no idea what happened and in the end they pick up the slack and carry out their work the best they can.  Eventually some more ants come into the picture and the burdens they took on eventually recede leaving a lingering sense of disquiet that lasts throughout their short lives.

That ten year old boy is God.  We're the ants."

It has been a long time since I sat down and realy listened to them...but the opening music from some of the James Bond movies is some of the best guilty pleasure pop music around.  On one hand I remembered how much I loved Rita Coolidges voice when I was a child...on the other hand I believe that  Shirley Bassey (who did the song for Moonraker, Goldfinger, and Diamonds are Forever should have her mouth superglued shut.

On the side of things that could have been we have The Crow: 2037 http://abahb.crowfans.com/Crow3/2037.html
The Rob Zombie penned script that was also set to star Christoper Lee as the movies villain.  The script is available on this page as well...I personally think it would have made an interesting move; much like the William Gibson penned script for Aliens 3 that you can track down.

Through the auspices of the online comic group here at LJ I ran into an online manga that is so good it kinda scares me
Metanoia is at http://www.plethora.net/~chartreuse/metanoia/
It is the real deal folks...I would love to see this made.

Anyway..time for some work.
