16 remasters down....

A preview of the new Owl River Bridge will be going up Saturday.

Need food, need steak, need shrimp, need cheese fries....

All of of these things will soon be taken care of.

I'm still sketching out idea's for Tarot Cards, too.

I thought I was going to scream for a while.

Spent three fucking hours on one panel for the revamped comics that kept crashing on me over and over in the same damn spot.  Had to do some major tweaking of things to get it fixed, too.  I managed it.

New job starts Monday as well....things are mellow over here...taking a little bit of time off from doing much of anything...being solitary and relaxed for the most part.  The Mighty Misfit is better after her health scare of a little while back.  However, she has developed a deep seated resentment of having her jaws pried open in order to be given her medication.  On this, I can't blame her in the least.

My fingers are also pleased to report that Missy's teeth are still as sharp as they ever were.

Still keeping my fingers crossed on a number of other things as well.  If things work out like I hope, I will have attained one of the things that I have wanted my entire life.  More on that to come...

Close call with the mighty Misfit today...

She's being medicated and treated and is safely back at home.  If she was a human, she'd probably be looking at hip replacement surgery...as it is she's on anti-inflammatories and is being babied even as we speak.

Hopefully, she will be getting back to her irascible self quite soon.

The worst part is when she gets hurt, her mood and attitude totally changes.  Her mental state was so off, that combined with the lack of mobility on her right side the Vets thought she might possibly have suffered a stroke.

However, the worst case turned out better than I thought.  Sometimes you do get lucky.

It's a little application called Folder Size and it is designed to show folder size and children. It works only in Windows XP and is available over at Folder Size

It's a brilliant little idea, and doesn't add any noticeable lag on the system at all.  The instructions on the site should be able to help you get it set up with no problem, and once you have it, I don't think you'll be going without it again.

A touch of some bug has bit me I think...the fever ko'd me about noon today, and has been trying to drop me in my tracks ever since.

God bless Thera-FLu

Started the comics for next week right now, and managed to get the images for five of the early ones redone from scratch during our pause period.

Drinking chocolate milk right now, alternating between CSI Vegas and Reign of Fire on the tele...trying to decide whether it's going to rain or not...trying to decide whether I need a cigarette or not.

The next three cards will be...

The Magician, The Chariot and Justice....

after that the Sun or the Ace of Swords...

Then the High Priestess...or The World...

Requiem is done for tomorrow, and Tunnelrunners is done for the Renderosity strip on Monday...

And now on to other art things...

The 3d content war is continuing a pace with the battle lines being drawn even as we speak.  On one side we have DAZ Studios with a huge content library, and the software catalog from Eovia under it's belt.  On the other we have E-Frontier with Poser 7 and Vue d'Esprit.

I have been watching things with a great deal of interest the last few weeks after noticing that several things that were being rendered/imported into Poser used almost double the RAM as the exact same items being used in DAZ Studio.  Now most people wouldn't call that too much of an issue, but when the size differential is 750 megs vs. 1.5-1.6 gigs, I say that there is a fucking issue.

Now tonight, I found out that the new Poser 7 breaks the Transposer plugin that Carrara 5 uses.  Transposer is what causes Requiem to be possible.  Without it, I am screwed.  Now things may end up being fixed with the advent of Carrara 6 which is right around the corner, but with the recent news that Eovia Software (the people that make Carrara) didn't end up licensing the SDK development pack from the Poser people for C6, I am more thna a bit nervous right now.

From my perspective, it seems that E-Frontier is banking their marbles on Vue...which I think is a piece of shit.

I've ran Vue 5 and Vue 6 and have had nothing but problems.  Multiple program crashes, excessive memory use, and crippling performance have been pretty much all I have noticed on their end.  I don't care that LucasFilms is now using Vue in the production arena, what matters is what I can get out of it.

So far though, it is looking to me that an upgrade to Poser 7 will not happen for me unless C6 can handle it.  And I am looking at DAZ with a bit of uncertainty with regards to C6 as well...DAZ owns Bryce as well these days, and I am not entirely enamored with it (especially Bryce 5.5 which I bought and found to suck).

That's the state of the production line these days at any rate,  Carrara 5 Pro and Poser 6; and it looks like it will be staying that way for a while.

Tonight it has been Splinter Lake and the digital mechanics of building the perfect beach.

Seven hours straight on a computer working, a two hour break, and then another run at the finish line.  Tomorrows comic is done, the Renderosity strip is almost nailed, and I have learned things.

One thing I have learned was how to control my temper as I listened to a global warming denialist recite the republican doctrine according to that inbred, oxycontin snorting fucktard Limbaugh in my local hangout/drinking establishment.

Three cheers for temper control, I guess.

Oh, and according to this dick, Nixon was a good president.

And a few other observations...

1. Has anybody out there but me noticed that singer Macy Gray sings like a female Fraggle with a really bad cold?
(oh, and in case you don't know what a Fraggle is... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fraggle_Rock   http://www.fragglerocker.com/

2. It's all about connection, and the things money can't buy...([livejournal.com profile] meteru will know what I'm talking about)

3. I'm currently taking the new version of Fireworks for a test drive, and I have to say that it makes me a very, happy panda.  They actually improved it (which I didn't think was possible)

4. Obsidian canyons have recently been springing to mind lately as something I might visit in the digital art side of things.

5.  I am still working on the Requiem Tarot deck...I'm still hung up with The Hermit right now.  Yes, I am beating my head against the wall.  I know what I need to complete it, I just don't have it yet.

6.  With the recent work on Microholography and the development of 500GB's of storage on a DVD there may finally come a day when I can back up my Poser directory and comic art files on one disk.  Of course, this also means that a couple people I know will soon be making the ultimate mix DVD's ;)

7.  I have had Tracy Chapmans "Baby, Can I Hold You Tonight?" as my mental soundtrack for the last month or so.  Great song, and the memories from it are enough to almost kill me at times.

I know a few people have been wondering about this...

This is what the card back will look like.

Working on the tarot cards again...tomorrow (hopefully) you should see a design for the back of the cards themselves.

Sick right now...running more than a bit of a fever as well..  Trying to get through the fog in my brain and put down the dialog for Sundays comic.  The fog keeps on getting a little thicker by the hour ;)

Been playing round with Windows XP shell replacements for a bit of a change on things.  From what I can tell, Litestep with the GO!3 theme on it is a good bet.  With the way it's set up, plus the fact that it displays active system info at the bottom of the theme, it pretty much makes yz dock obsolete for my purposes.  It's all glossy/carbon fiber black with good text contrast for easy readability in the shell.  And it's fairly low profile as well.

Did some tests with Vue on the new rig in regards to the Poser Material problem, [livejournal.com profile] meteru ...and while it does render them, I am having the same problems with crashing and instability as I always have been.

And as always, England prevails.

After some thought, I have shifted some cards around a touch. The Bellisarius card is now being used for The Devil. And the Death Card has been revised:)

Going by what The Death card represents, this is the most fitting thing possible. Especially considering the fact that this will be the concluding image in Requiem when it is finally completed.

Been thinking about a few oddball projects lately...

With everything that has been going on, it's not something I need to be doing...yet the idea of a Requiem Tarot deck intrigues me.  I just might be able to put together an interesting slant on it  (especially with some of the characters and locations running through it.
