I just got done doing a great deal of testing and research involving Poser mat files, and Carrara.; Currently it is impossible to transplant a Poser procedural texture into Carrara. You can take the mat pose type of thing over (like V3 dress textures and such...) however...the mat room textures are unaccessible with the current version of the Transposer plugin.
The one loophole that I could possibly come up with was actually creating a MAT pose with the Ajax Material from the effects section and hand editing it from a a cr2 to a ppz file. Even with the material added in and converted over to a map, it won't work. I even tried uncompressing the .mtz file and converting it over to a .mt5.
Still no soap.
I came up with something that may work based off a rendered image of the material in question that I slapped onto a High Resolution cloth pane. However...the render times that I have seen so far with something like this appear to be nothing short of monstrous.
Still the testing goes on...

Date: 2006-08-27 03:12 am (UTC)There has been some talk about support for the type of material I need in the upcoming Carrara 6, and I hope like hell it shows up. I just don't know when it will be coming though. The company that makes my weapon of choice got bought a while back, and things are still kind of up in the air.
Unfortunately for me...it is essential that I get this support at some time in the future. The main villain in Requiem (Taioseach Bellisarius himself) was done with these materials. In addition, a lot of the Threllichock were built this way as well.
Until this is fixed, there is going to be a lot of work arounds :)
