Medical Care

Did you know that there is a three day lag time between being discharged from a hospital, and being readmitted before Medicare will cover it again?
My father and 95 year old grandmother found out about this the hard way when our local hospital would not admit her, and told them that there were no more rooms available in part because of the Medicare coverage issue. They even recommended that they go to a nursing home, instead of doing their job and treating the unwell.
It utterly infuriates me, the fact that they would do nothing for a person that is literally out of their head from pain. My fathers solution was to track down her doctor, whose nursing staff promptly informed him that the policy was utter bullshit, and put my dad in touch with her doctor. Our family doctor came into the hospital and "suddenly", there were rooms available, and she was promptly admitted.
I hate liars anyway, but the very fact that they would pull something like this is unconscionable.
And people wonder why members of society walk into places and start shooting...if you push people hard enough and fuck over them long enough, is it any wonder that things like that happen?
After talking with my father about this, I realized that the hospital was luckier than they ever knew.
