Some thoughts....

First of all, I would like to wish everybody out there in LJ land a good holiday season. I hope everybody got what they want, and I hope a number of people got what they deserved. This time of year always gets me somewhat philosophical, and me and the feline have been discussing things. In honor of the holiday season, me and the mighty Misfit have decided to toss out some observations on life in general.
- We don't care what anybody else tries to tell us on the subject. Cranberry sauce sucks.
- Holiday traditions exist in part because of what I call the "kindness phenomena". A stupid idea gets perpetuated throughout a group of descendants because initially someone was too kind to say "You know something? That has got to be the stupidest idea I have ever heard. Why in the hell are we doing this?" From that point onward at least half of the time: laziness, idiocy, and/or a lack of curiousity carries the idea/custom/tradition onwards
- Holiday traditons get passed down due to another phenomena...this one is simply known as the "guilt trip". I don't think the people out there reading this will need much of an explanation.
- When people talk of past lives and past life memories...How come everybody is the Queen of Sheba or some such...and nobody has a vivid memory of being a broken whore in a slum tenement somewhere?
