Spam and the new year...

A New Year....
Blaahhhh....
Me and the cat are well....I'm just fried from staying up all night reading.
While checking through some of my auxiliary email acccounts today, I discovered that someone had forwarded me a piece of email referring to money from M$ for email tracking. This tangled piece of code has been around since most of the World Wide Web was founded
For further reference on this one check out http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/nothing/billgate.asp
What amused me the most was the estimated 1000 people this email had went through. With the number of these that are going around on the net, it is enough to make me wonder how many of these were actually started by spammers as a way to ensure obtaining valid email addresses?
It would be an easy enough thing I suppose to simple copy the source of the multiply forwarded email and drop it on to someones master spam list thereby giving a continually updated source of good emails which could then be sold.
You know....maybe I should just shut up now in case some spammer is reading this and gets ideas.
